In what could be considered a travesty, I have chosen to ditch the wood vinyl on the side of the safari. Of course, the gods Jalop would bless me with a brown wagon underneath the stuff.
I hope I can finish the strip this weekend and then paint the trim (which you can see on the door) to compliment the brown and give a nice demarcation between the silver and brown segments.
I have to hand it to GM. By wrapping their wagons, they basically ensured two lifetimes worth of finish. The wood carries the car to year 30, and when it's peeled off it exposes utterly immaculate paint that has never ever seen environmental influences.
